Seeing the Brain…With Diapers (What?!)

Call me a nerd, but this is fascinating!

Image: Colorful digital image of the human brain, sort of looks like the brain is painted.
SOURCE: NOVA
As the video pointed out, there are many other ways of looking into the human brain. This one may move us into new ways of understanding frightening conditions like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. Imagine how this discovery might help us study things on a neuron by neuron level.
Very often these images are beautiful (not to mention fun to interact with). On the NOVA site they have a rather interesting interactive where you can play around with many of these different imaging types! You can try that out here.
Maybe, like me, you might consider learning a little more about the human brain and how it works a s a new hobby!
Perhaps what I love most about our video today and the world of neuroscience, is how scientists are expanding possibilities.

“The possibility of coming right up to the edge of what is known and seeing past it.”

Improvement of Power System Transient Stability using Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC) | IJSTE JOURNAL Vol 3, Iss 1

Improvement of Power System Transient Stability using Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC)

This paper describes improvement of power transfer capability in IEEE 4 bus 2 machine system using Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC).It is known that series controller is always contributing a better performance for power transfer capability through transmission line. Here Static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) has been used as a switching converter type series compensation. Power oscillation damping (POD) has been incorporated as a controller to damp out the oscillation. Simulation result shows after installing SSSC between bus no. 1 & 2, the power flow has been improved. The work has simulated in MATLAB Simulink 2010 and output has been compared with and without Static synchronous series compensator (SSSC).

An Adaptive method for Image Restoration: Image De nosing , De Blurring and Super Resolution using Sparse Representation | IJSTE JOURNAL VOL 3, ISS 2

An Adaptive method for Image Restoration: Image DE nosing, DE Blurring and Super Resolution using Sparse Representation

Noise suppression from image is a still a big challenging problem for researchers. Image may be corrupted during the transmission or storage time, so removing the noise from the processed image and should preserve the important information. In this paper image patch is representing as sparse code. We are selecting the sparse code from the complete dictionary which is linear group of few atoms. By the addition of sparse coding noise to image we can enhance the performance of sparse representation. Here by restoring the image reducing the sparse coding noise in this paper we are adopting the method of adding the sparse coding noise. For getting of high resolution output the sparse coding noise should be least amount with high PSNR.

Design Consideration of Multiple Operational Sprayer Cum Trolley | IJSTE JOURNAL VOL 2, ISS 9

Design Consideration of Multiple Operational Sprayer Cum Trolley

Sprayers are mechanical devices that are specifically designed to spray liquids quickly and easily. They come in a number of different varieties. In this project will take a look at multi operated mechanical boom sprayers. A sprayer of this type is a great way to cover large areas such as lawns, orange farms quickly and easily. Also attached grass cutter, plant cutter and harvesting equipments and therefore with the help of these attachment, it is a multi-operational device. The device is pushed manually from behind and as the supply to the pump is switched on, the liquid is sprayed. This paper attempts to discuss the generalized design consideration for multiple operational sprayers cum trolley.

SIMULATION OF SPWM CONTROLLED CONVERTER | IJSTE JOURNAL VOL 2, ISS 10

SIMULATION OF SPWM CONTROLLED CONVERTER

Voltage source converter based power systems have the ability to rapidly control the transmitted active power and also to independently exchange reactive power with transmission system. Thus, VSC with suitable control scheme can offer an alternative means to enhance transient stability, to improve power oscillation damping, and to provide voltage support. The proposed voltage sourced converter (VSC) with pulse width modulation (PWM) provides a faster control that is required in power system. VSCs are one of the most used power converters in distributed generator application as such it can operate either as inverter or as rectifier. The study of VSC and related principles as well as PWM method for controlling the power switches is carried out. MOSFET/IGBT can be invariably used as switches. The simulation of VSC is carried out in MATLAB/SIMULINK and PROTEUS. The results of which shows improvement in performance of transmission lines.
